Truist Park

Truist Park is built into The Battery Atlanta — a roughly 60-acre mixed-use district owned and operated by the Braves that wraps the ballpark with restaurants, bars, retail, a hotel, an Live Nation amphitheater (Coca-Cola Roxy), and residential and office buildings. The Battery is by design the entire walkable pre-game and post-game neighborhood: it opens hours before first pitch and stays active well after the final out, and it has the densest concentration of game-day food and drink of any non-downtown MLB venue. The surrounding Cumberland area is broadly suburban — mall and office-park development around the I-75/I-285 interchange — with limited walkable options beyond The Battery itself. Travelers building a wider day can pair the Battery visit with downtown Atlanta attractions, a Stone Mountain afternoon, or a Marietta Square evening.

Plan to arrive at least 90 minutes before first pitch — the Battery's bars and restaurants are part of the pre-game experience by design, and the I-75/I-285 inbound traffic stacks up significantly before evening home games. The 'Chop' chant — adapted from the team's longstanding pre-Truist tradition — and the in-stadium tomahawk graphic remain part of the game-day presentation despite ongoing public debate; the team has continued the tradition while phasing out the foam-tomahawk merchandise giveaways. The Monument Garden in the outfield concourse — honoring Hank Aaron, Phil Niekro, Chipper Jones, and other Braves legends — is a worthwhile pre-game stop. Truist Park opened in April 2017 as SunTrust Park under an initial 25-year naming-rights deal with the Atlanta-based SunTrust Bank, and was renamed Truist Park in January 2020 after SunTrust merged with BB&T to form Truist Financial. It replaced Turner Field — the Braves' previous home from 1997-2016 (built for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics) — in a move from south of downtown Atlanta to suburban Cumberland in Cobb County, controversial at the time for ditching a relatively new ballpark and pulling the Braves out of the city.
