Segra Park

Segra Park anchors the BullStreet District — a 165-acre master-planned mixed-use redevelopment of the historic South Carolina State Hospital campus just north of downtown Columbia. The blocks immediately around the ballpark are new mixed-use construction, the historic Babcock Building (the centerpiece domed brick state-hospital landmark, undergoing adaptive reuse), and surface lots being progressively redeveloped. Downtown Columbia's restaurant cluster — Main Street, the Vista (the warehouse-district restaurant strip between downtown and the Congaree River), and Five Points (the historic university-adjacent bar district) — sits a short ride south. The University of South Carolina's campus sits a short drive south of downtown. Williams-Brice Stadium (USC football) and Founders Park (USC baseball) are roughly 15 minutes south. The neighborhood reads as an emerging redevelopment district with Segra Park as the early anchor — the BullStreet District is one of the largest urban-redevelopment projects in the Southeast.

Plan to arrive about 45-60 minutes before first pitch — BullStreet District parking is gentle on most weeknights and busier on fireworks Fridays. Segra Park opened in April 2016 as Spirit Communications Park, the centerpiece sports anchor of the BullStreet District master-planned redevelopment, and was renamed Segra Park in 2019 after Spirit Communications was acquired by and rebranded as Segra. The Columbia Fireflies have been the Kansas City Royals' Single-A affiliated club since 2021 (previously the New York Mets' affiliate from 2016 to 2020). Note the naming overlap: Segra Park in Columbia (this venue) is the Fireflies' ballpark; Segra Stadium in Fayetteville is the Woodpeckers' separate ballpark — two different Segra-branded baseball venues in the Carolinas. The Fireflies' signature postgame fireworks show is a feature of the brand. Mobile-only tickets are the norm. Bag policy and gate-open times shift season to season; confirm on the Fireflies' site before going.
