Citi Field

Citi Field doesn't sit in a traditional bar-and-restaurant strip — it's surrounded by Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, the Tennis Center, and a sea of parking lots. The real eating neighborhood is Flushing itself, a short ride east on the 7 train or a long walk past the park, with one of the most vibrant Chinese and Korean food scenes in the United States. To the north, Corona is a center of Latin American food and the home of the original Lemon Ice King of Corona. The park itself sits within Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, home to the Unisphere from the 1964 World's Fair, the New York Hall of Science, and the Queens Museum — all walkable and worth pairing with a day game. NYCFC is sharing Citi Field for soccer matches until its new Etihad Park stadium opens in Willets Point, expected in 2027.

Arrive at least an hour before first pitch — the 7 train from Manhattan typically takes 25–40 minutes and security can stack up on giveaway nights. The Jackie Robinson Rotunda at the home plate entrance is the canonical first-time entry; it doubles as a small museum. Mets bag policy follows MLB's standardized small-bag pattern but specific dimensions and clear-bag rules have been refined in recent seasons — check the team site rather than older guides. The Mets Hall of Fame and Museum behind the rotunda is free for ticketed fans and worth a pre-game stop. Mobile-only ticketing is standard; download tickets ahead because cellular reception inside the bowl can be uneven on full nights.

Citi Field opened in April 2009 next to the footprint of the demolished Shea Stadium, with the Jackie Robinson Rotunda at the main entrance — a tribute to the Brooklyn Dodgers great whose legacy the Mets organization has long honored. The brick facade and arched windows on the exterior were modeled on Brooklyn's Ebbets Field, and the original asymmetric outfield dimensions were a deliberate echo of the pitcher-friendly Shea era. The dimensions were tightened in 2012 and again in 2015 to play more neutral after years of suppressing home run totals. The Mets Hall of Fame and Museum behind the rotunda is open to ticketed fans on game days. NYCFC has shared the venue since the club's MLS launch in 2015 and is scheduled to move to its purpose-built Etihad Park in Willets Point — adjacent to Citi Field — when that stadium opens, currently targeted for 2027.
